There’s Always Something to Smile About

Gallery staff have a lot to smile about. We work with a group of dedicated, inspiring and creative people. That’s why we’ve decided to share our smiles (both in and outside of the Gallery) by taking part in the Smile Epidemic – a shared digital gratitude journal that asks participants to recognize what brings them happiness each day. Our hope is that our smiles become infectious.

The Smile Epidemic was created by Waterloo resident Jim Moss, who started a “gratitude journal” after being diagnosed with an illness that left him with weaknesses in his hands and legs. Read this article from the Record for more on his story.

Moss is encouraging people to think positively by paying tribute to things that make them happy each day- a fresh flower, toast, teacups (you get the idea) –  and then snapping a photo of it.

Here at the Gallery, we’re keeping track of our smiles for 30 days. We have quite a list already and we’re just half way through …. everything from our pets and kids to rain boots, polk-a-dots and of course ART are putting big smiles on our faces! You can see all our pictures on the Gallery’s Facebook page under photos, or check out the Smile Epidemic for all the smiles happening in the region and beyond.
