The Descent of Fury

Fury by Walter Bachinski

Fury by Walter Bachinski in kw|ag's corridor gallery

‘Fury’, a sculpture by Walter Bachinski descended into the bowels of kw|ag today, with a little help from the kw|ag team – our Registrar Cindy led the charge with installation gents Ian and Gareth plus the multi-talented Matt, our graphic designer.

Marking the end of the corridor exhibition “Being Magnified: Heroes and Villains from KW|AG’s Permanent Collection,” the sculpture’s journey below ground to the vaults also ends his role as token villain. A lively presence at the end of the corridor, ‘Fury’ will be missed.  Next up for the corridor gallery? “A Boundless Moment,” the first in our community curator series will open Sept 4.

“The villain, Fury, symbolizes any experience or circumstance that causes the hero to evolve. I thought the idea of ‘villain’ worked well in this situation as a contrast to ‘hero’. It brings the idea of hero into sharper focus, magnifies it. The villain is anything we come up against in our lives that help us to uncover a new understanding of who we are.

~ From an interview with kw|ag Registrar, Cindy Wayvon.
